Twenty-eight members, with nine aircraft, participated in the June Chapter Fly-Out to Tangier Island, Virginia today.
Calm winds with some clouds made the flights smooth and enjoyable as we headed south 100+ miles and crossed the Chesapeake Bay, into Virginia and down onto Tangier Island.
Several of the group opted for the Island Tour By Golf Cart before lunch. The narrated tour covered the main areas of the 3.5 by 1.5 mile island, and took all of 15 minutes.
Lunch was at Lorraines, who had tables ready for the large visiting group. Excellent seafood and homemade desserts set up the island visitors for their continuing exploration of the unique island community and its beautiful beaches.
A wonderful day. A great EAA240 event.
Regrets to those who could not join us today, every available seat was taken on this our most popular Fly-Out of the year.
A BIG CALL-OUT for Brian, who arranged this Fly-Out on behalf of the membership. Many thanks Brian, a great job once again!
We’ve posted photo’s of the Fly-Out here, at the online EAA240 Photo Library, and we’ll add more as we get them.
The Chapter Fly-Outs team (Brian!) takes a well-earned break during July and August, but hopes you’ll have a lot of summer flying trips and adventures. We restart in September, and will advise via email, the website, Facebook and Twitter what we’re planning for the remainder of the year.
You can always reach the Fly-Outs Team by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a great summer! Fly safe, Take Someone Flying!
